Death by Gravity

A fall is defined as an event which results in a person coming to rest, inadvertently, on the ground or floor or other lower level.

Falls are the second leading cause of accidental injury deaths worldwide. Each year an estimated 650,000 individuals die from falls.

Adults older than 65 years of age suffer the greatest number of fatal falls.

For every one person who dies in a terrorist attack, eleven people die from an accidental fall.

Questions for Christians:

1
Why did God create the Earth of a size and density which produces a gravitational pull strong enough that simply slipping in your shower can cause serious injury or death?
2 - Why did God make people of my age (60+) especially susceptible to this form of injury or death?

Other examples of death by gravity:
Falling or jumping from a high place (building, bridge, tree, cliff).
Airplane crashing to the ground.
An object falling onto you - a tree for instance.
Anything falling during an earthquake (buildings or bridges).

The Golden Gate Bridge is the most popular suicide spot in the United States, perhaps even in the world. In the 75 years since its opening, at least 1,300 people have committed suicide there, an average of almost 20 people per year. Every jumper has a 98% chance of success, a much higher percentage than for hanging, drug overdose, or self inflected gun shot. The bridge is 225 feet high, and after a four second fall, jumpers hit the water at a speed of 75 mph.

Death by gravity - all of these actions, intentional or accidental, are fatal ONLY because of gravity, the force that (supposedly) God built into the world we inhabit.

Note - just days after I composed this post my girlfriends mother, 89 years old, tripped and fell in her basement fracturing her hip bone and requiring surgery, 3 screws inserted, days in the hospital and months in rehab, all costing hundreds of thousands of dollars - all the result of a trip and fall lasting one single second in time, thanks to gravity (and God?).

Christian, can you offer a reasonable explanation for this gravitational design flaw?
